This kit will upgrade your rifle to the current manufacturing specification (I call it the "Type 3"). It includes:
a) 1 x Slide Handle (plastic fore grip)
b) 3 x Delrin Spacers (acetal homopolymer resin)
c) 1 x Action Guide Block (aluminum alloy)
d) 1 x Rod Block (steel)
e) 17-step Instruction Sheet (many pictures, well written, easy to follow)
Special items you WILL need in addition to standard tools such as imperial hex keys etc:
Red Loctite (high strength "permanent")
Blue Loctite (medium strength)
Heat Gun (NOT Propane torch!)
Extra Troy replacement parts you might need (if worn or damaged):
1 x Action Rod aka Guide Rod
1 x Guide Rod Lock
2 x Springs for Guide Rod Lock
I would say that this Upgrade Kit is really more of a Repair Kit to correct the design flaws of the "Type 1" and Type 2" Troy Sporting Rifle aka Troy PAR. However, the very low pricing of this Kit makes it well worth while. Troy is obviously selling these below their cost in order to coax owners into upgrading before they have problems. My PAR National model was completely unusable after approximately 950 rounds. My opinion is to buy this kit and install it before you have issues...
Most importantly, the original Rod Block which is bolted to the top of the Bolt Carrier was made from an Aluminum Alloy. This was a foolish choice as the Action/Guide Rod is made of hardened steel. The pump action thrust quickly causes the hardened Rod to damage the much softer metal Block making it impossible to remove the Rod for cleaning without the use of a hammer and brass pin punch.
